What about mysql, what exactly are you looking info on? What host did you choose and what price and type of server?

I got XEON 3440 6GB DD3 ram, SATA Drives, 4 cores at 2.53ghz each on sale if you didn't exactly find one.

If you really want the truth, vbulletin isn't even used by any large forums, the largest forums in the world run phpbb, or custom forum software, I've never seen a large forum use this software, compared to phpbb it uses 10x more cpu/ram/bandwidth.. trust me I host all sorts of forums running several softwares, I myself on my own site I run phpbb, and it uses so many less resources..

If you are looking for a dedicated server, email me [email protected] and I can point you in the right direction.

I only buy from Certified websites for my own security. I do appreciate your Sincere Efforts for something you can see, but I must decline. I'm just looking for websites who offer the best, as decent prices. So far, I'm still searching for a better host, to host my VB Forum

Certified websites? what does that even mean, you only buy a site that has a cert? that makes zero sense and that would be one for dumbest reasons to even buy hosting from a company, what makes that good in a host? *SO CONFUSED*

lol, them sites are small as hell.. I'm saying "BIG SITES"

PHPBB, 25k users online, 24million users registered, 2 billion posts.. now please don't reply with them small sites anymore..

Welcome to Gaia's forums, where millions of members gather to discuss random stuff, make new friends, complain about life, argue about nothing, laugh at dumb pictures, discuss serious issues and/or curse like sailors.

This is the biggest VB forum on the internet.

                    145k registered members, 109million posts..

Here are all the big forums on the internet, you will notice no really large ones use VB, unless its modded to ****, like the site above.

Fact is, vb uses way to much cpu/ram to do anything huge with, who wants to spend 10x more on servers when you can use different software and go a cheaper route, people think something is better because it's paid for, which is very untrue.

I'm thinking much in the long run for my forum! My forum is not small, yet it is not big either. I currently have, " Visible Registered Users (Online-Benutzerhandbuch) - [3,417] Members *Mitglieder*

Currently Online Registered Users *Online kaufen* - [1,892] Members *Mitglieder*

I want to host using "ONLY" one host. What i mean is this. When i get host and host my Gaming Forum, i wish not to switch down the road to another host. I don't mean to confuse you ryan1918, I'm just over looked some hosts. Like for example, I look at these websites for " BEST DEDICATED SERVERS "

                      1). http://bestdedicatedservers.net/ They have,

                      Xeon E5520 Quad-Core Nehalem 2.26GHz 8MB L3
                      1 TB of HD
                      12 GB of RAM
                      10 TB of BANDWIDTH
And the price for this is, $279/mo.

So this is basically what i was looking for. This is extreme to the average user but like ryan1918 said about his posts about all the users, posts.. etc.

If anyone has a better solution or to tell me, if this Host is worth it, let me know. Thanks

I found this Dedicated server on http://www.theplanet.com/?SSAID=295088

Perhaps, this is the "BEST DEDICATED SERVER" I've been searching for? But I have a question that I need help on..

Firstly, I currently now have 3,471 Members. The forum is under construction in certain parts, but I'll be adding a new Add on to it which is a Game Area! Where you can play any game you want, by playing multiplayer with other players from other forums or just usual, internet mulit-player. Now, I usually gain about 20-40 new members aday because the games I host. Now, what server would suit me best for as of right now ?

There is a few hundred on in the nighttime and a close to 2,500 in the daytime. My forum runs Tournaments, Challanges and Leaderboards, to the pertaining game they play. Also, there are 100 Seperate Clans, Groups, Mobbies associated all on my forum, so that will explain why my forum is really busy. Just right now, I run a Single Independent Program to take all the members and sum it all to one number for me, like how many people are registered and online etc. So, when i do combine all my forums, into my master forum, what do you think will be best to start it off at ? Like really high and expensive or in the middle.

                        This Server;

                        Xeon E5520 Quad-Core Nehalem 2.26GHz 8MB L3
                        1 TB of HD
                        12 GB of RAM
                        10 TB of BANDWIDTH
And the price for this is, $279/mo.

Seems like what i should go with, because of the much activity i have on my forum, so any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Being a hosting site owner myself I would recommend choosing a host that has dedicated server options and stick with a shared server for now and move up as needed. 3000 members is not much and won't use that many resources. I own a few online games myself, my servers can handle 600+ queries per second. I'm sure at 3000 members you don't have that many online at once. One of my sites gets over 200 mil page views per month, you are nowhere near needing a dedicated server unless you have the money to throw away. Expect between $279-$325 a month for a good server with the bandwidth needed to run a "huge" site with active users.

Oh and phpBB sucks IMO, I'm still running it on some of my smaller sites but when they start making money they will be switched to vBulletin also. You have to mod the *&^% of of it to get what vBulletin has out of the box. Any way find a reliable host with options, I'm sure you can find what you need for about $35 a month tops for what you need right now.

That site you linked http://bestdedicatedservers.net/ seems like a landing pad site or they are a reseller for those 4 hosts. Forget it. You want a host that will answer the phone at 3:00 am when your server goes down.

                                Good luck
