They are Vbulletin specialist and that is all they host.

Fast servers and they will setup, maintain, upgrade and install mods.

They are not specialists. All of the services they list as offering they do not. I went with them because of all of that and just moved away. They have some nice people their in the support area and they try hard but, they tend to tell you one thing and do another. Of course dare you have any issues and get stuck speaking to their head person.

Their servers were hacked and we had some BS page put up from the hacker. Took over a day to get that off and I was told the forums would be back up at noon. At 4 pm when I called for an update, I got cursed at, called stupid and even threatened. The guy said he comes to my state sometimes and he would probably come find me. Funny people these server folks can be. lol

I moved away and have a VPS with www.servINT.com
Gamers socializing and having fun 24/7.

lol that's some serious accusations there xD Did they really threaten physical violence against you for asking them for support o.O That's really bad hosting tactics, if you have proof of the tickets post it up on webhostingtalk forums, this could lead to a real nice discussion there.

It's not slow, it's just got large objects on the page, which are loaded before the page starts rendering.

There are a TON of big sites that use vBulletin, I would suggest doing your research, additionally big boards site is horribly out of date
Gaia online used php for a base framework for their forums, however the software they use is no longer phpbb and has been modified to death. Gaia years ago was running over a network of about 100 servers.
www.mmo-champion.com is a _huge_ website. They can havee 65k~ users online on a busy day.

They left the copyrights intact to show respect to the phpbb group, there isn;'t much left of phpbb.

Well yeah I know they stripped it down to the barebone's for sure.. I myself like phpbb tweaked and modded it myself, just uses much less resources than any other forum software.. but both has there ups/downs.

I was thinking about getting servers there, but I didn't know how the network was, what kind of speeds do you get on the network?

I am on my 2nd hosting company from 2010. I have upgraded 4x in the last six months. My current provider keeps saying to upgrade, but I find it hard to believe that I am using that many resources with vBulletin.

                              vBulletin Setup:
                              *vBulletin version: 3.7.3
                              *Add-ons/Mods:
                              **DownloadsII
                              **PassiveVideo (Lite)
                              **PhotoPost vBGallery
                              **Post Thank You Hack
                              **vBAdvanced CMPS

They have raised my connections to 250 concurrent to try to override the cut-offs I get from too many connections to the MySQL server.

                              Current Stats:
                              *Online: 367
                              *Threads: 26,436

What I just upgraded to this week (VPS4):
                              *2GB RAM
*100 GB HDD (only about 15% of this utilized)
*Bandwidth: 1.25 TB (about 10% being utilized)

They are saying vBulletin is not optimized and that is the reason I keep having to upgrade. We do have millions of page views a month, and 50,000+ visitors per month, but our highest online count is 766 in November 2010, when I was only on VPS2. We had no issues at that time though.

I was a NOC manager for 4 datacenters in Silicon Valley back in the day, and we hosted Nike, GMAC, Hot Topic, and other big sites, with much smaller resources. Not being a UNIX admin I cannot intelligently speak to this, but it looks like I have a lot of resources available to me, that I shouldn't need.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is my provider full of crap, or should I be using that level of service?
