My vps drops down if 200+ online members

I don't know if the problem from vb4 or from my host

I have a vps from 1and1.com


-storage 20gb - guaranteed ram 512 - burstable ram(up to) 2gb - 100 MBit Connection - Traffic 1000gb


php 5.2.14 installed - apache 2.2.3 - post_max_size 8bm -upload_max_filesize 2mb -memory_limit128m -mysql 5.0.45


I have a page on facebook with 230000 fans, when I share a link on it, more than 300 users come to my site, it starts to become slow and then all the server stops

please some one help me to solve this problem, it's my first time to use vbulletin, is this problem from vb or my server is not good enough for the vb4

Too little for 200 members, it will overload the server for sure. Do you have many plugins installed in your forum ??

1500 ? Move to a dedicated server then, VPS is limited to about 100-200 active users at a time to be honest.

I am not earning from my site yet, my forum is online just for 3 days, if you know another good server and cheaper please tell me, but my facebook page helped me to get users, I just want to know how many users can be online on this server

Hmm that config is not bad i would suggest you try it for a month or so and see if it suits you or not. I doubt it would crash as of now anyways. In all it's a good server for starting and if at a later point you think you don't need a dedicated as of now you can always jump back to a vps

I doubt you would find a cheaper MANAGED dedicated then that anyways

If your forum is online for just 3 days, and you've got over 200 concurrent connections and 200 members, then that's something you want to look at in terms of monetisation, and optimisation.

I noticed MySql option has a number of allowed databases with (100 MB) infront of it !!! Does that mean each database has a max size of 100 MB? hmmmmmmm

If your forum is online for just 3 days, and you've got over 200 concurrent connections and 200 members, then that's something you want to look at in terms of monetisation, and optimisation.

I think you need at least 2GB RAM
Install APC cache & Nginx as reverse-proxy will improve server performance.
