Why is it so hard to get a consensus here!?

Cant we just have a poll that lists say 20 web hosting services

Move it to the head of this forum with sticky note or whatever its called

Tons of traffic go through that post, people click on thier favorite web hosting service. Then after awhile its easy to see what most people here prefer to use.

That way newbies can just pick what the majority use and not have to research it for hours

Another thing, how many users here are just sales people promoting thier own business? This seems to be a trend at many message boards which undermines the integrity of every single post.

It will never be possible to reach a consensus. A webhost in one months time can go from great to horrible in peoples perception because of any number of issues.

Because many people think different, hey, some people even think that GW Bush was not a bad president, go figure.

Because hosting is based on four primary factors, being:
        1. Type of hosting required, ie. shared, VPS, Dedicated, Cloud, etc.
        2. Your skill base for managed or unmanaged.
        3. Physical location of the server, and drum roll.....
        4. $$$$$

There are a couple others I could toss in, though usually they're more emotive than the logical aspects off decision, and then elements mentioned encompass other factors like software, future growth, blah blah blah.
