    I phoned them 3 times regarding different questions, all were answered quite well. They don't act like snobs like some companies.

          I want to get these and still not sure what to go for. it is between the:

          AMD Duron 1GHZ with 1GB ram and 2 x 20GB hard drives

          v

          PIII Intel 1GHZ with 512MB ram and 2 x 40GB hard drives.

          If it wastn't for the difference in hard drives i would go for the Athlon as I think 512MB ram makes far more difference than the difference in processor. The size of the hard drives makes me lean more towards the PIII though.

          Thoughts?

            Depends?

            Do you see yourself using up 40gb of hard disk space.

              possibly. I would almost certainly use one drive to backup the other.

              I want to be able to offer large reseller accounts. I also want to host a sci-fi image gallery on there which will probably be about 5GB of images. so the extra space would be nice.

                Could the AMD have bigger hard disks put on it.

                If not;

                then i dont think either of those deals suit you. You need a mix of both of them. One of them is good for one thing and the other one is good for another.

                Find out about the hard disk upgrade amd and keep shopping around.

                    I can deal without the large hard drives and I need to get one of these servers so that is not the question. I just don't know about the relative performance between the AMD and the Intel one.

                        Just because you have a lot of sites, that doesn't mean that you need to have a dedicated IP for each site, as you can run on a shared IP, and it really won't make a difference. The only reason why you need a dedicated IP, is if all your sites need an SSL certificate to be installed on them.
