    Looking for dedicated server

I found http://www.rackshack.net/ and must say it looks impressive. Good, nice tech/ sales support too.
I may go for it. Anyone here use them?

I was thinking about getting a few of them for company boxes. But I don't like the idea of plesk...... All of our clients are used to Cpanel, so that means I'd have to compile php, apache, sendmail, imap, pop, proftpd, and everything else, since thats all installed with plesk...

          well i have a VO dedicated server + a rackshack.net raq4 server

www.venturesonline.com definitely wins hands down for support and service well the hardware is superior (hardware is from www.racksaver.com) - but rackshack.net has that 300GB/mo going for them..

i too prefer cpanel/whm as opposed to plesk

              i use it for

              1. part of my hosting biz in offering file/image only hosting services

              2. learning how raq4's work and in writing these guides
              - http://i4net.tv/marticle/get.php?act...e&articleid=20
              - http://i4net.tv/marticle/get.php?act...e&articleid=21

              3. hosting some bandwidth intensive sites

learning about cpanel/whm, then raq4s and later possible learning about admining plesk servers... knowledge = power = $$$$

                    450MHz (k-62) - 128 RAM - 20GB Hard Drive - 300GB Monthly Transfer

                    Intel:
                    Pentium© III 1GHZ - 512 RAM - 2-40GB Hard Drives - 300GB Monthly Transfer

                    AMD Duron:
                    1GHZ - 512 RAM - 20GB Hard Drive - 300GB Monthly Transfer

All the same prices for each ($99/ month).

Damn, comes up to a $486 one time setup fee for the server. Damn, has anyone ever negotiated the price down?

Yeap - but not with this host.

I dont think you will get a big discount or they may not even reply. Try and email them though.

Go for the AMD box, it can go up to 1 gig total ram. As I remember the Intel boxes top out at 512mb ram...

i doubt it you will be able to negotiate a cheaper setup fee since they need to cover the cost of the actual server somehow

personally i'd still choose Intel even though the motherboard maxes out at 512mb versus Duron

but then again i won't choose either until they have dual cpu setups with > 512mb ram

i'd wait too since tech support isn't up to scratch for white boxes yet
