If a host kicks you, what can you do about it?

I'm currently using Host Gator, but im just wondering if you get kicked by them for using to much CPU. What can you do about it? Can you upgrade to dedicated servers? or they just delete your site?

Most hosts will contact you about the CPU issues. Some will try to tell you that your vBulletin forum is "poorly coded" (lol) or some bullcrap like that.
They will offer you to upgrade your account to dedicated hosting (if they have that) . Usually they don't just delete your site without warning.

If you are not confident about your current host, I would be sure you have everything backed up on a regular basis and start looking elsewhere now.
Any reputable hosting company will work with you.

First rule of running any website is, always make sure you have regular backups. Most hosts will likely contact you in case you are causing load issues, unless they are run by kids who have no business sense.

              ......

Do you own a forum? Please tell me no.

CPU = Central Processing Unit = Brain of computer.

10/10 reputable hosts will never just delete a site. I know Host Gator won't for sure.

You'll most likely get an email and an account/script disabled message. They'll ask you to fix it, and then reactivate the site. If it continues to be a problem they'll disable it again, and then inform you, that you need to upgrade to a VPS, or a dedicated solution.

If the host deletes your data with no warning, you should have considered paying more than $1.95 a month for hosting.

As far as I know HG sends out a warning/notification and upgrades you upon request. That's what I've read on reviews and feedback, question would be best answered by them however.
