    Sharing between two servers

I am not a technical guy so this question might sound noobish.

Is it possible for me to distribute hosting between two servers at different locations but the contents are the same, so if one server goes down the other will still keep the site up or if one server is slow the other one runs instead. Is this a complicated thing? Does that require a lot of technical expertise? Maybe hosting companies don't allow that?? Oh.. and both would be shared hosting accounts.

    Thanks.

It may be possible, though you will need to sync very often, and on shared hosting it isn't really doable. Just go with a very stable host.

Static content could be easily mirrored using rsync. You would need shell access for this though.

However as soon as the database comes into play it's probably too complicated to achieve this on shared hosting accounts.

We have implemented this on our Business Hosting Plan using Rsync and FAM however these 2 servers are in same Datacenter. You can find the details at http://www.eukhost.com/business-web-hosting.php

This can be done in 2 different Datacenters as well.

That would be a costly set up, you will have to pay for two servers and then load balancing etc. Definitley not something you get with a shared hosting account.
