So if GoDaddy is a NO, can I get some YESes?

    Hi,

I haven't administered a bulletin board before but I have administrated many a website (Apache/PHP sure) and database (actually moved from MySQL to Postgres but so what) so I believe I am more than capable to the task.

The issue is that I have a project in front of me where the existing hosting company is GoDaddy and frankly, they reek. The tools are cumbersome and from reading this forum, it seems vBull integration is relatively poor.

Can I get just a list of hosting companies folks have used successfully with vB without a problem? I'd like one that I can scale with since I do believe this project will eventually get bigger and bigger.

    Thanks!

the only low-budget host i can suggest is hostgator.com ... a great example of why is their support forum... vBulletin 3.8.3! they keep it updated. they know how to deal with it if you have a server problem with vB, and they set all their servers to fit at least vB requirements. i think it's the only low-budget host that do it.
oh no, i'm not going with Xenforo... come on, i'm better than that... i stick with Wordpress... rofl

Most shared hosts will be okay, even Godaddy is fine unless you are on Linux. If your site is too big, shared hosting in any case is not going to be sufficient. If you are good technically, you wont need much help from the godaddy support Otherwise, go for liquidweb or hostgator.

                I'd recommend HostGator as well.

HostGator is definitely a good choice (at least to start with).
