Should we be looking for companies that specialize in vB hosting?

Any modern web hosting solution that doesn't cripple their customers accounts, and meets the vBulletin requirement (latest stable of OS/Apache/PHP/MYSQL and optionally APC) is suitable for vBulletin.

To be fair, I haven't come across a host that uses the slow ones. In any case, the lastest server I have is a 7,200RPM SATA II drive, without my specification. I could have asked specifically, however, hosts do realise that using old/degraded hardware results in bad reputation.

I've been running on a VPS of one sort or another since 2003, rather than a virtual host. The difference is how crippled the WHM has been.

If you pay enough you can have whatever you want. If you need a solid state hard drive for your vb board then you must have about the largest forum on the planet or something. Somehow large forums managed for a long time before these came on the market.

You've got to be kidding me. You should rename that page "My first forum, ages 3 and up"... (referring to that particular page on hosting)

A host that actually knows something about the product you are going to be running is always desirable.
