    Server critique...

    Hi all

I am lookig at moving to my own server and have found this machine:

MODEL: Intel Dual Xeon 2.4GHz Processors
    + DRIVE CONTROLLER: IDE
+ PRIMARY HARD DRIVE: 80GB IDE
+ SECONDARY HARD DRIVE: 80GB IDE
    + OPERATING SYSTEM: CentOS 4
    + MEMORY: 1GB RAM
    + BACKUP: None
    + FIREWALL: None
+ CONTROL PANEL: cPanel/WHM with Fantastico
+ IP ADDRESSES: 5 IP Addresses
    + BANDWIDTH: 1500GB Bandwidth
+ UPLINK PORT SPEED: 100Mbps uplink port

Would this be sufficient to run a forum of 2600 active members, 2-300 online at a time, 450,000 posts and still be reasonably responsive?

    All opinions welcome...

    Cheers

If I were you I'd try to get at least 2GB RAM and perhaps use SATA drives instead of those old IDE drives.

RAID is cheap these days. Try getting one to prevent any site outage due to disk crash.
