    FDC Server

    ***********************************

FDC Hosting - http://www.fdcservers.net/ dedicated server

    pros
    1. Reasonable price
    2. Unmetered bandwith

    Cons
    1. Constant downtime (at least once a month) and its in the late evening around 8-10PM Not good.
    2. Poor customer support.

I am looking to move my VB site to a new hosting company. I am looking for a dedicated server and preferably unmetered bandwidth if not unmetered then one that can handle 25,000 + members

I see 3 cons, no 2. Unmetered (unlimited) bandwidth means their selling you the moon.

        Site5 issues....again.

They do not seem to have a monitoring system in place. Since my background is managed services, I find this VERY UNACCEPTABLE! I left the corporate world running co-lo data centers about 8 years ago. Even in 1999, you could get open source monitoring software, and very good software at that. When I submit a ticket saying my site is not accessible, you should not be asking me why that is. I AM PAYING YOU!!

That is the main reason I left the corporate world...too many idiots cannot think outside of a computer screen. Computers are a tool folks, not a replacement for that thing between your ears.

They also like to tell you that it is your vBulletin software. They are supposed to be specialists at this, but that is always the first thing mentioned...and I have upgraded 4 times since last summer, with a max consecutive online of about 400-420.

Time to find another hosting company.

The first year was fine & the second year we've been having some sort of problem once a month.
When I call for help when I'm down or have a problem, they never take the blame then "magically" everything works again an hour or 2 later.

Any experiences with inmotionhosting out there with vbull databases?
I use them at work & have never had a problem with them but I've never hosted a forum on them either.
I know this was posted awhile ago, but I was back checking in since the end of term for my hosting is coming up, and I am back looking for suggestions.

InMotion... I started with them in the VERY beginning a few years ago, and was with them maybe 4-5 months before I was asking for a refund. My board was very small then, and I had nothing but problems. I ended up moving to Hostgator at that time, now with Global Gold, and looking for a new host in the U.S.

Unless something has changed over there in the last few years, which it could have...who knows... I would avoid them for vbulletin hosting.

I have dedicated servers with Softlayer, but I hear http://www.urljet.com/ is excellent.

              GoDaddy Dedicated Servers
Con: They are using OS's that are 5 years out of date, and will not upgrade them. They say that you can (but dont allow you to mount an ISO to them), and therefore make you, for example, yum update through 5 years of updates? No thanks. They also say they wont perform the upgrade, or support your during it either. Nothing but problems with GoDaddy, and their support is always slow and not helpful.

              MediaTemple
Quick response on all support tickets via Twitter or through their ticketing system. There servers are up to date and perform outstandingly. I highly recommend their servers.

NOT happy with Hostgator shared hosting.

They oversubscribe their servers and performance sux.

My two experiences are with hostmonster and ************.

Hostmonster used to enable compression, now it's gone, so I would not recommend neither because they are over saturated and they have no compression at all in their servers.

Using globalgold VPS Xpress. Very dissapointed. Had an issue back in june where they, for some unclear reason, erased all data on my server. Had to rebuild from scratch, lost around 5000 forummembers. Extremely bad support, and it seems as if they're ignoring me ever since. checking out urljet atm. Thanks for the advice.

I'm using URLJet vbulletin shared hosting - http://www.urljet.com/

                            Pro's:
                            -reliable
                            -specialize in vBulleting hosting
                            -excellent customer service
-uses up to date software (cpanel, MySQL, etc.)
                            -great tech support
                            -R1 hourly backups
                            -lightspeed server

                            cons:
little more expensive then most shared hosting - but you get what you pay for!

I would highly recommend URLJet hosting to anyone, especially those running a vBulletin forum.

Following this thread and plenty of reasonable feedback I signed up with Global Gold hosting in the UK , cant fault them and they did all the migration for free from my old hosts 123-reg in the UK .. I would strongly advise people to avoid 123-reg if you value your sanity... their kit is overloaded and would not run the forum properly, and their support was woefull. Yes 123-reg are cheap, but they certainly aint cheerful! ... And neither will you be, if you run into difficulties with them ! ...you get what you pay for !
