Im hosted with f2s.com (freedom to surf), I really wanna do the upgrade to 3.5.4, but I am struggling to do a server backup as f2s wont allow a client, because their server is behind a firewall. I can back up most of my db using php myadmin, but the larger files have to be compressed using bzip gzip etc, and when trying to re-add them they come up with errors, has anyone been an f2s customer and overcome this??

Try using something like mysqldumper to backup and restore the database.


F2S... I remember a few years ago when that was a free hosting provider...

F2S are an excellent ISP, but they are not really the best web host. I'd move if I were you. They don't offer very powerful features to help manage dynamic websites.
