Seriously? I am not going to deny it because I knew someone that had a pet scorpion.

We used to have several Scorpions and Tarantulas, including one Tarantula that was as large as my hand. I named him The Great Khan.

Yeah, I used to have a rather unorthodox pet myself until I decided to move to Canada.

Do not go near 1&1 Ive had my ded.. server on and off line for 11 days and tech service is absolutly joke.

I even got a request to send my errors to a @gmail address , talk about farming out work.

1&1 is the worst nightmare Ive ever had with a hosting company

Dont fall into the overselling companies. They may offer you a lot of everythign and kick you out due to CPu usage even before you reach anywhere near the bandwidth-disk space limit.

Ive been with ASO for about 2 years.....

I started with a shared plan with them, moved into a VPS, and now own a dedicated server they manage for me.

Without question, I would send any friend to ASO.

Conversely, I have heard nothing but negatives about 1&1 hosting.

1and1 may look cheap, but they will find plenty of other ways to sting you for your money. Their support is utterly utterly useless, not only are their databases limited to 100mb, they are also limited to 18 connections, and are prone to constant (and I do mean constant) databases errors.

I could rant on for hours about the many negative experiences I've had from my unforunate time with 1and1.

I have since moved to ASO which are absolutely fantastic! They also have no limits on any of their extra services.

If anyone who wants any assurances about the horror stories about 1&1's sucky support, you should take a look at http://www.wasitfree.com/recordings.htm .

Hey guys I'm with 1and1 right now and i'm beginning to really notice problems with MySQL. I'm in the market for something new and everyone sure does seem happy with ASO.

A few questions I have are about the size limitations. I'm looking at starting at Small and then upgrading my way up. For those of you who are running a board that gets a few hundred posts a day, what's it like when everyone is posting pictures? is the space used up that fast?

You can't go wrong with A Small Orange. The support is amazing, and has alot of space.

Never go with 1&1. Try another company.

I moved from 1&1 to ASO. 1&1 was a nightmare while ASO was a slice of heaven. I got off 1&1 as quickly as I went on it.

If you go to WebhostingTalk.com, you'll read many horror stories about 1 and 1 and a few other hosts that oversell.

I've heard this many times myself. I'd recommend ASO or Site5 over 1&1.
