    Problem with avatars?

Hi, I am new to vBulletin and whenever I try to upload an avatar it says file upload failed, I am using 4.2.0.

    Thanks.

Please go to Admincp > Maintenance > Diagnostics > Upload. What does it say there after you do the test upload?

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

Did you select a file to try to upload at all? (The message sounds like you did not.)

The most likely cause of that specific error is a result of your 'upload_tmp_dir' setting being empty. You or your host will need to edit php.ini and set 'upload_tmp_dir' to point to the full path to a directory on the server that is chmod'd to 1777.

You will also need to restart Apache after making this change.
