    What Is The Most Frequent / Better PHP & HTML Editor?

    As I am venturing myself more into PHP nowadays I find myself out of my depth for which is the better editor for PHP. Now I know many will have their favourites, though putting that aside, what is the better editor for a new PHP programmer to use?

    I have:
    • EditPlus
    • Editra
    • Notepad ++
    • Zend Studio 7

    Whilst I know Zend Studio is supposed to be the ducks guts off editors, I actually don't like that it fills things in for me, as I tend to like only what I write, so then I know exactly what is being written and not having pieces filled in for me to have to space past them.

    I have used EditPlus for all my past HTML & CSS writing, but I don't think its real crash for PHP. I find Zend Studio is good to have on hand just to open things up in for debugging, though is there an easier tool than Zend Studio for PHP debugging?

    What are the expects solutions to PHP editors?

        Hmmm... thanks Zach, another option to review. I ditched the Editra one yesterday... it sucked. Agreed AK... I'm pretty keen with the notepad++ at present, though I will certainly review Editpad Pro also, as it looks pretty sharp and simple to use.

            Add Context to your list of items to check out. It's a freebie that does the job for basic editing.

                Why did you change from Zend ragtek? Was it just the cost?

                    No, i had a Zend Studio 6 licence, but as they released the never version i was not happy with it, also i didn't want to pay more money to them, so i searched for a free alternative.
                    Because i was a c# developer i tried also the demo of vs.php which isn't really bad, but then i found netbeans and fell in love with it
                    Sometimes i switched back to Zend Studio because of some tools, but the last months i didn't touch it...

                              Thanks all... I am checking out this netbeans now, as I think Zend is just way to complicated.
