I posted this over on vborg a few days ago (here), but I'm still trying to find out how to do this. Thought I'd try here as well.
Is there any way to create a custom user profile option which will display as a traditional password field, so the text is represented as *'s and not as visible text?
I'm creating a POP3 mail check widget, whereby the user can specify a mail account for vB to keep an eye on, and show the number of items and total size in the in the Welcome box (top right, under the existing PM info).
Obviously I need to have the mailbox login details (server, username and password) as custom profile options, and it would be nice to have the password elided.
I understand that it's not possible with the standard custom field editor. I'm looking for a way of working round it. I'm happy coding, hacking and slashing my way thru it, I just need some pointers, hints or an example to work from.
TIA for any help,
