I just read the recent announcement about emails purportedly from Jelsoft staff. It says they go like this:
FWIW, I think the vB team have mistaken what is actually quite a normal email virus for a vBulletin-specific one. I got an email recently at my University account that goes like this:
It's smarter than your average virus in that it takes the last two parts of your email address and puts them inside the message. There's a .pif file attached to it which, presumably, contains the virus.
I'm guessing that the vB team have been misled into thinking it was an actual vBulletin-specific virus because they got the email and it said vbulletin.com in it. It seems to me, though, that it has nothing to do with vBulletin and only people with vbulletin.com email addresses will get emails like this.
Don't sue me if I'm wrong though
