Looks like alot of us will be buying Winamp Pro

Today Winamp 5.0 stopped working,, actually all MP3's and wavs stopped working on me, i thought i had a hardware problem.

I rebooted thinking maybe a codec was locked/not responding, had the same result.
So i uninstalled winamp and all was fine, so it was a association problem with winamp, i downloaded the new winamp501_snowpatrol and was directed to a page that said i could use winamp's codecs for 60 days with no charge.

Or of course,, buy winamp pro.

So i bit the bullet and paid the $14.95 for Winamp Pro, been using it since i was 21, i'm sure i owe at least that much

    I tried winamp5, didn't like it.

    I'll stick with winamp 2.9.

I'll just stay with Windows Media Player. Nothing to download, nothing to purchase.

I think you might have read that wrong it should play mp3s and videos but it might let you encode mp3s and burn CDs for 60 days cause if you look at there table that is all that is missing from the free version.

Windows Media player is all right. I can even minimumize it into the windows block (the gray one) and use it from there.
Haven't used mp3 for sometime..., used windows media player to encode music from CDs..., it'd be encoded not in mp3, but the quality is as good as mp3.

I'll stick with WMP9. Great player. All my files are pretty much WAVs since I use Napster. Although MP3 work great too.

I stopped using winamp when version 3 came out.
That was not a good player at all.
Im using quintesental player now. MUCH better then winamp and can do all the stuff winamp do without having to pay for it.

I do burn MP3's all the time, i need that feature, i dont encode that much though, in CANADA there is no law against burning them for personal use, we actually pay taxes on the media to do so.
So i find nothing wrong with it myself..

I'm using iTunes at work (a Mac, so little choice but still a good player) and now at home because my system is fast enough. Apple simplicity.

Same here. I like it's simplistic set up. With winamp or another program it's way to overloaded with features, at the end of the day you only want it to play music.

Windows Media Player encodes to WMA just fine.
