Keep in mind the rule that I broke. I wasn't at the board wreaking havoc and spamming and posting gay porn or anything like that ( funny, because doing that would be less illegal than what he's doing now ) - it was only an age problem. In fact, like I've said before, I was contributing constructively, and planning on doing so more.
If you agree that based on the fact that the only rule I broke was that of age I should still be subjected to his torture.. I don't even know what to think of you.. except that maybe you're masochist (in that you wouldn't mind such treatment if it was happening to you as much as I do). I'm going to the library later today to see what I can dig up.
Their privacy policy has nothing in it about holding details hostage. Hrm.

Hey CeleronXT - if you remain calm and reasonable (which it sounds like you are) I think you just might get some satisfaction. To the extent you can, please let us know how this plays out, either here or at vBAdmins.Comment

I would personally like to see this site that he is going to sue.
We are all making judgement over wether or not it was his mistake or the web site author, we can't give a good answer of if he should sue or not as we don't know about the other side.
Sue all you want, keep up the american sterio type, but you will lose, as you signed up to a site which was for adults only, you posted, you got caught, and you just can't take it (like a child).Comment

Well, if the issue is about you being under 18 and that being part of the reason you were removed, then yes, I believe your information should be removed. This may be a bad example, but look at what happens with the porn industy. If a underage person is in a movie, and that is discovered, then the distributor can no longer sell those movies because it is against the law. Now, they can't require people to return the movies they bought, they just can't sell them any longer.
Same thing applies here. Really if this was any type of age violation, then I believe legally they should have to remove all information entered by you from the point of discovering that you were not of legal age (including your posts). This would be similar to the porn distributor saying, "Well, it's already made, might as well keep selling them!"
As others have mentioned, find a local lawyer in your area which offers 1 time free legal advice and ask them. Also, most cities have a referral service which can help you find an affordable lawyer, who handles internet law, in your area.Comment

I'm supprised that someone who is under age has the ability to fund such a law suit.Comment

Here are my thoughs and they are clear and simple. You registered at that site and broke the TOS by registering since you are under the age of 18. You then freely gave this administrator personal information about yourself. This info you gave was volunteered and not forced. You really don't have a case in my opinion. This administrator has not broken any law by not giving your information back to you.
Since the admin has not broken any law, there is nothing the courts can do about it. Even if for some off reason that this gets to court, im sure the judge will look at you in more of the negative light considering your registered at a forum you knew you shouldn't have.
Just drop this case and move on.Sportstwo.comComment

It would appear that almost none of you know a thing about the legal system. You keep saying I will lose just because I broke the rules. Apparently you don't understand that legally that won't matter. If you don't understand that that won't matter, don't bother posting your legal advice, because it's just coming right from the crapper.

Since we don't have much details to work on, here's a suggestion.
From the website IP, find the block owner, hosting company, or data center. Find on their hosting website the AUP document (Acceptable Use Policy). If whatever they did to you falls under any of the violation categories listed, then contact them and give the details, and they will force them to comply, or remove their site, if it indeed violates their AUP.
Now before going to all the details about that site and what went on between you two, keep it simple. Most AUP's do not allow SPAM. If the site does not allow you to unsubscribe "opt-out" from their list, then it is a violation of the "opt-out" requirements So maybe you can ask them to help you get off of that site's "list".Comment

If you were so serious about this you would have had your parents initiate an action when you were a child. The only ones that would win in this case would be the attornys when they take your money.
I wish you luck, but if this is how you choose to start your adult life, I dunno where you'll be 5 years from now.
Is this a DSS site? Did you get a "Letter"?Computer Help Forum
