      Why apache2.0.47?

Maybe because its the latest stable release of apache's httpd server?

Ive been running apache2 for almost a year now, only having to recompile for upgrades. Works fine for me, though i wish perchild worked :|

Are you sure? I thought Apache marked Apache 2.0.47 and some versions before stable enough?

It's just that the PHP Devs don't recommend using Apache 2 with PHP yet.

I thought the release of PHP 4.2.3/4.3.3 fixed that?

Nope, PHP devs still don't recommend running PHP on Apache 2 although many are doing it.

Then why does the Apache Software Group recomend its use over 1.3?

If your post is directed to me I never said Apache 2 isn't stable, I just said that the PHP Developers have stated that it has its issues with PHP.

as far as I know its no longer experimental as 4.3.x branch introdcued a new apache2filter which improved performance and stability. They also fixed a few bugs in 4.3.3 regarding this.

So would you recommend 2.0.47 as opposed to 1.3.28, with PHP 4.3.3?

well i'm suscribed to the php-internals list and I haven't seen any complaints about apache 2 correctly.

Someone done a benchmark of 2.0 v 1.3 and they both worked out the same. There isn't really any advantages at the moment for PHP since its not thread safe atm. Though if your wanting to use any of the apache 2 modules then its a great thing.

Then I'll probably stick with Apache 1.3.28 and let cPanel Inc. decide when to upgrade to 2.0.x
