    Yay!

I just finished my first PHP script!!! I've done a couple before, but they generally were sewing together scripts that already worked, which doesn't really count.

I owe it all to Ed Sullivan, who let me know that my script wasn't working because I wasn't globalizing my variables properly... Thanks!

I just had to share, and give props to Ed (Mike) for helping me out.

I've got so many areas to get up to speed on, I don't have the time to add too much php (beyond basics) to my list. Perhaps some day I will make the time, but with 2.0 perhaps there wont be the need.

Cool. My first scripts were pretty basic ones... a calculator and a translator that translates l33t stuff into English and vice versa. I recently recoded them both and could post a link to 'em if you want.

It's really simple. It's for a print shop, for their clients to upload graphics for printing. I made a form that takes all the fields, validates them, and sends them to the sales department by email. Then the graphics' file extensions are checked (to make sure they're valid image files), then the files are moved into the right folder, and renamed to a $name_$date.$extension format.

It's simple, but I'm still pleased with myself.

The links to my scripts, at your request:

My Calculator: http://fquist.nagcentral.com/iced/calc2.php - tiny PHP script which does simple add/subtract/other basic math stuff. It has some problems which I am too lazy to fix.

http://fquist.nagcentral.com/iced/translat2.php - l33t babel fish. Pretty fun, especially the semi-l33t stuff. (even though it's really buggy)

                    What do you guys think?

                        Yeah, l33t babelfish rocks. Especially the semi-l33t thing(which I suggested. :P)

Try putting very long quotes in the semi-l33t conversion thingy, the result is often hilarious. :-P

/me thinks iCeD should make a translate url option so people can put a translate link on their vBulletin.
(erm.. I don't volunteer for that, but msg me iCeD if you want help. )
