My actual forum is busier in the past week than ever!
It has been breaking 100+ users online for the past couple of days! And averaging between 60-80 users online!Comment

it's coming into the coldest month of the year (for those of you not lucky enough to live in Hawaii), so I guess more people are settling in front of their puters.
During peak times, I will hit 130-140 users concurrently. I hope I can increase that number when I get on a server set up to handle the load.Webmaster:

Lawnsite, I'm glad yours is working for you. We're on the Vservers ultra and are moving next week because of massive slow downs on the boards. <sigh> We don't even have the traffic that you do. Vservers insists that it's us that is causing the lag on the server. I wish I knew WHAT is causing that server to choke so I could point it out to them. At any rate, we're going to co-locate a server with Catalog.com next week. We'll have a PIII 800Mhz with 512 RAM and 2 9gb SCSI hard drives. I'd venture to say that this server will serve us well since the specs are almost double that of the VServers machines. We have peaks of about 75 users with the average number somewhere between 30-50. I think if the server actually wasn't choking like that we'd probably have double the users on the boards at a time.Comment

I have only heard good things about RackSpace.com. My old partner moved his hosting
company to them and he said they are great. I think the one of the main things that
seperates a good host to a great host is technical support.
People... to save time and energy go with a MAJOR hosting company that can handle the
load. If you peddle with small time hosting companies its only a matter of time before they
email you and let you know your using to much CPU and you have 24 hours to find a
new host.
