    Hacked vB forums

Does anybody know what's going on with www.moochies.com/forums ?For over 2 weeks, they've had a message up that they were closed because their forums were hacked. I wonder if this is the result of the spam bot or something else?

vBulletin wouldn't know why they are down, the only way they would know is if they contacted vbulletin.
but still they probably couldn't tell you.

Have you thought about asking them? That site doesn't sound familiar from any support tickets.

I have asked a couple of times. They don't respond to email. Maybe it's an unlicensed site. I just thought maybe they posted something here, since it's been 2 weeks. I was wondering if my board might be at risk for something similar. I upgraded to 2.2.9 to take care of the porn spam bot...and that's what Moochies homepage shows. Thanks!

Any website (vbulletin or not) is only as secure as the owner tries to make it.

usually by the admin being careless.

Leaving the getadmin.php file uploaded, using the same password on another site with a corrupt owner or installing some sort of insecure hack,.

I believe 2.2.9 doesn't solve the bot problem. It's 2.3.0 that integrated the new image verification system which takes care of bots.

DUh! I guess I'm having a blonde moment. You're right. I did upgrade to 2.3.0 after the spam bot. I don't know why I was thinking I was running version 2.2.9. It probably was the bot that shut their site down.
