    Yes you can do this.

    The rules are:
It must be for testing purposes only.
It must not be publicly accessible.
Do something like .htaccess protect the forums directory or remove all permissions from unregistered group and close registration.
Name your forums directory something like 'testvb' so it can be seen as a test board when it calls home.

You may install a test board but it must remain private. It's best to place it in a folder called "testvb" or something along those lines so that the vBulletin staff knows it's just a test board.

if you install it locally on your pc testing hack would be faster and you can install as much test forums as you want then

              License agreement:
If you have a valid licence, you may set up an additional test forum in order to test code, template and database modifications. To make this clear to us and our licence verification procedures, place it in a directory called 'testvb' and be sure to password protect it. It must not be accessible by the general public.

Ok quick question. I was in the process of creating a test server online like suggested. I called it testvb and dropped all the files into it. I got this error when installing it.

Database error in vBulletin Installer :
Invalid SQL: CREATE TABLE access (
userid int(10) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
forumid smallint(5) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL,
accessmask smallint(5) unsigned DEFAULT '0' NOT NULL
                )
mysql error: Table 'access' already exists
                mysql error number: 1050

During the install process I got a message saying that the database already existed. Im guessing it was playing off my existing one? I chose not to delete the database because of this.

Can anybody help me out with this?

Yep, you are trying to install over the old database -- DON'T DO THIS! Heh, edit the config file and change it to point to a different database... If you only get one database on your hosting account, you won't be able to do this.
