no it is weird and scary. If it is ever released the vb 2.x.x users will have a sesory overload and seg fault.

                    What makes you think so?
I have seen many companies start a beta and even distribute it to testers only to decide to continue on with the current version and not release the new line. MS has done this many times. I've run MS betas for months and then the builds would be removed with no explanation.

I think there will be a vb3, but, I think that the delay is being caused because the license structure will change. This might not be a free upgrade since it is a major rewrite.
Have you ever seen a software company release a major upgrade where the version number changes without charging an upgrade fee?

You make a good point.... For example CuteFTP Pro 2 --> 3. Had to buy 3 after that, couldn't just get a free upgrade.

But then again, users got to go from 1 --> 2 of vBulletin without an upgrade fee.

Licensing has nothing do with the delay AND there will be no 'upgrade' fee involved in the release of vB3. If you have an active license at the time of its release than you will be able to download it at no additional charge.

What else would you expect from Jelsoft?
                            Excellent as always.

Well I'd expect free cheese from a company like Jelsoft.
