Ooh, I like The Thing, too. My friend told me that Dawn of the Dead was good, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

I haven't heard alot about Event Horizon. In fact, the only reason that I know about it is because I see the preview every time I watch Dumb and Dumber. Maybe I'll check it out sometime.

Dont forget some of the lesser known ones:

Dead Alive (aka Braindead), directed by Peter Jackson. Not scary, but a funny and terrific zombie movie.

Cannibal Holocaust: Banned in many countries. The director had to goto court several times to PROVE the acts in the film werent real. Blair Witch Project aint got nothing on CH. Extremely gory and hard to watch if you cant stomach it.

Cannibal Campout: Not scary, not good, but FUNNY because its so horribly made. The effects are rather good for such an amateur effort, and hard to stomach (no pun intended), but its filmed in video, by like college kids, so its really lame, but still great for a laughfest.

Not so much a horror movie in the classical sense, but it sure as hell horrifed me, the movie Salo: 120 Days of Sodom, which is based off the Marquis de Sade's novel. Quite possibly the sickest, most depraved film I've ever seen. THem Italians sure know how to make some sicko movies.

Also, never ever ever ever ever watch any of the Texas Chainsaw Massacres AFTER part 3. They are all so horribly bad.

Same thing goes for The Exorcist II, terrible movie.
Never heard of Cannibal Campout and Cannibal Holocaust though.

Cannibal Holocaust is fairly popular among horror film fan circles, mainly for its notoriety. You can read a review of it at http://www.skyhighpictureshow.com/cannibalholo.htm

Cannibal Campout is hard to find, its a real crappy small time movie. The cover itself looks more professional than the movie (and its a rather gruesome cover, yet the 2 actors, arent in the movie.)
