What about Night of the Living Dead? Possibly one of the first horror films ever.

Diary of a Serial Killer.

Little known about and hard to find. Shot in Chicago. Will keep you on the edge of your seat. Yes this is a horror movie and the best I ever seen and it borders on reality.
This movie is so bad, in terms of the gruesomeness of it, that many video stores will not have it and if you ask them to order it for you they won't. Best place to find this at a mom and pop video store.

Although in the original version the title was simply "Ring", no "The".
Also the ring in the title should be the telephone ring not the ring of light in the well.
Of course, as usual ,the Americans new better.

The first Hellraiser. Many on this list aren't even horror movies like Jaws and Young Frankenstein but Alien is pretty good also.

Im a horror movie buff myself. Night of the living dead is also on my top ten. i loved the Exorcist as it is based on a true story, but in the real story it was a boy, not a girl.
