    Integerated HelpDesk

Is there any HelpDesk software (preferably free), that can be configured to use vB's database (for user authentication) with a minimal amount of work? Does anyone have a similar setup?

// trying to be a little lazy

    Thanks.

Since this requires hacking do a search over at http://vbulletin.org or post over there.

you could use vB as a help desk, create a forum called Support.

In your admin panel set custom forums permissions so that all usergroups can only see their own threads and then set mods and admins to see all threads.

There you have a support system where only support staff can reply and only the users who made it can see the thread.

Also, if you go to www.teckwizards.com and register there, they have a hack that lets you mark specific threads as [Fixed], [Bug], etc.

Should come in helpful in a helpdesk.

There is a codehack that allows you to do so at vbulletin.org

            Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I was looking for a full fledged integerated ticketing system that will receive emails and convert them to tickets etc. kinda like DeskPro (too expensive for me), or PerlDesk ( Perl ).

Will look into the hacks that have been mentioned.

There are a number of other, cheaper PHP helpdesks listed at hotscripts, none as good as deskpro of course

Sure, i can even give you 5 copies, just fill out the small form at http://www.deskpro.com/purchase.php !! - getting it now before the next version comes out is a good plan as well; as it is a free upgrade (deskpro v2 will be more expensive)

That's true, nothing comes closer to DP. That's what my employer (100megswebhosting.com) is using at the moment.

That was released at vBulletin.org, it lets you run a support forum inside vBulletin. Pretty cool actually, we had it installed at vBulletin.org for some time but then it just disappeared(???).

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
