    What's your internet connection?

    I'm on a LAN Cable Modem; I'm in UK and I'm on NTL, the 512kb/s connection one (might upgrade to the 1MB connection one soon )

    So what about you?

    I must say if any of you really use the internet a lot and it's important usage for you, broadband is the way to go!

    Also, what's your highest ever download speed?

    Mine would have to be 290kb/s which happened yesterday

            Cable, 1.5m down / 512k up => $60 a month

            Upgrading to 3m down / 1.5m up soon tho

            You got 290Kbps on a 512k connection? You sure? Mine maxes out at about 300 and it's rated at 3 times faster than yours...

                When I had DSL I was paying $200 a month (between the telco and the ISP) for 1.5m up/down...Of course I had the business service so it had an SLA behind it which kind of factored into the price

                    Not sure what the max up/down speeds are, but the max I've ever got downloading was ~500k/sec from a website. I got 2mb/sec from an ftp once downloading a demo of some game...

                          I'm very sure that figure would be in the intial burst of your download, and not a consistant speed unless you were downloading a large text file or something which would account for compression. I know many people who use the same service as you on NTL - and that speed is not achiveable from their standard serivce.

                            I have 1 384k/SDSL up and down speeds are the same $210 a month, same day service if line goes down, or if equipment coughs up

                            at my hosting facility i have an 3 OC12 lines, im not even gonna dare myself to confess to what the monthly fee is, but if that line goes down, its sla s backed by a 30min downtime
