MY computer keeps restarting everytime I start it up!

I have a Athlon DDR DRAM XP1900+

Windows XP Home

It keeps restarting whenever it wants to, most of the time right after I startup windows

IM lucky to be on this right now, please help me with advice on what to do next, im only 14 and haven't got a clue

I would start by visiting http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp and downloading all the new patches for windows.

Then go around and make sure you are running all the latest drivers for your sound card, video card, NIC, etc. Make sure you get drivers for you motherboard/chipset also.

is your motherboard rated to take the Athlon XP chips? check the motherboard manufacturer's web site for BIOS updates.

Goto:

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Startup and Recovery

Uncheck "Automatically Reboot"

That's the short term solution.

I think something's wrong with your system, hardware-wise. Your system is rebooting like that because XP is doing it for you after getting some critical system error.

I had that happen before, and it was the CPU/motherboard.

Er, my athlon does this also, and i have to buy a new motherboard
