With all the hard earned $ people have spent on all versions of vb, including a version that is still broken.. We deserve an upgraded vbulletin.org. Why is the site still running and older version of the software, most of the mods on there are outdated and/or dont even work either.. An update for the site and a redesign definitely needs to be done..

vb.org works. It does not need an upgrade. It is heavily customized and the cost of upgrade would not bring any benefit to us at all.
I'd much rather some effort be put into fixing issues in vB4 and adding needed improvements such as proper IPv6 support, upgrade ckeditor etc.
Also: the mods on vb.org are user contributed. All are free (paid versions hosted off vb.org). All the mods I use work, albeit I've customized/fixed some.

vbulletin.org is run by volunteers, not paid staff. Upgrading the site, which is heavily customised, would be a mammoth undertaking, and for what purpose?
It is not true that "most of the mods are outdated or don't work". Besides which, modifications are provided by third party coders, they may, or may not, be able to provide support for their modifications but unless you're paying them you can't actually expect them to do this.
vbulletin.org is fine as it is.MARK.B

It would be easier to get .org to run vB4 than vB5. There is just not enough flexibility in vB5 to do what is necessary.
Not to mention the time involved, way to much work that is unnecessary. My Mods also available at OzzModz.com

I'm not trying to be argumentative because I agree the site is fine the way it is, however, what type of mods are in place that vb5 doesn't have built in or can't be implemented in vb5? Just saying vb5 isn't flexible enough to do what's necessary leaves a huge gap in understanding why. If vbulletin.org can't be upgraded due to time involved from volunteers, that is understandable but to say it is too difficult or can't be done leads to negativity towards the product. I've seen the negativity on .org from the mod developers and simply don't understand. The concept of challenge used to stimulate people into proving something can be done.

Yes one thing it does come down is time.
Now think about this. If it was so easy to create mods for vB5, why is there not more mods made?
It is now over two years since it's release, and there is only a handful of working mods for it.
Two years after vB4 was released, there was a couple hundred mods released for it.
So if the mod developers that were working on vB3/vB4 are not releasing mods in vB5, that has to tell you something. And no it don't tell you they are frustrated with vB, they were frustrated with it when vB4 was released, but they still released mods.My Mods also available at OzzModz.com

I understand what you're saying and agree to a point, but, the same thing has happened time and time again in the software realm. Some developers don't adjust their coding styles or bother to learn the new developing technologies and are left behind when the new technologies are embraced. Remember DOS? I've looked at other forum software and decided to stay with vb for at least a year to see where it goes because they are all coming out with new versions that are incompatible with the old versions taking advantage of HTML5, Jquery, JS, and excessively fast bandwidth. Internet speeds are increasing at exponential rates in a very small timeline. These faster speeds allow for richer content and larger downloads with still acceptable performance and will only get better. Eventually, PHP and MYSQL will no longer be backwards compatible and the old versions will be stuck where they are and nobody will be supporting them or developing for them either. More than likely, VB5 will be polished over the next year and those who stayed the course will still be in the game. I know a lot of the coders don't develop mods for money, so it doesn't really matter to them. Maybe IB will get the message and start sharing some documentation and make it easier for coders to develop for the platform.

There are not going to be any changes of this nature to vbulletin.org any time soon. It's a site run by volunteers and the amount of time it would take to update it to vB4, let alone vB5, is astronomical. It's not just a matter of pressing a few buttons.
It is not designed as a site to showcase the latest version of vBulletin, it is designed as a site to provide and discuss modifications.MARK.B

I agree to this statement, and I am fully agree to this topic, vbulletin.org need changes..so you can bring confidence to your customers. Why small company with 2/3 php coders like xenforo can have a powerful Resources Manager add on which is very good to release add on and styles. Why vbulletin cannot do it?Comment

by nporterThis site claims to offer 'supported' mods for Vbulletin but I'm trying to find if there is a page or list somewhere on vBulletin that actually shows endorsed or official mod sites? https://www.vbull...
