To use HyperLink you will have to Pay : British Telecom

To use HyperLink you will have to Pay : British Telecom
I was a little upset regarding this issue, BT ( british Telecom) is suing Prodigy Internet for using HyperLink and make this as a testcase, and if they win, they will go for other company that uses Hyperlink, that means anyone who uses hyperlink on their site, they need to pay a license fees, DO u think this is fair?

i think this will kill the Internet!

    what do u guys think?

          A good case..

for the reform of current patent laws! It's absurd when someone or a company can patent an idea without actually creating it. I read the patent in the link above and it's vague. It could be argued that the GUI of any OS is covered too since it implies as such.

But is it that I'm looking at things too simply, or what. There is no mention anywhere in that text of any other method of input besides a keyboard. Last I knew 99% of normal people either use a mouse, trackball, or touch screen to click on hyperlinks, there is no "keyboard signal"...

The suit should be thrown out as frivilous if nothing else!

Don't even mention BT - its the most bent, monopolised goverment f**k up ever - BT still strange the UK every day, and now they are trying to make even more enimies.

I'd start rioting if BT won this case as the world will have lost its mind.

They won't win. There should be laws for not coming forth to protect a patent until it becomes ubiquitous. That's lame.
              Well, there it is.

There are at least in the US. You have to protect your patent or you can lose the rights associated with it.

I totally hate BT - they are tit heads.

Its like me saying I invented the way to eat chips/fries (depending on where your from ) and saying "haha if you ever wanna eat chips/fries again you have to pay me!"

y'all need to add the pukey smiley. It would be perfect for occasions such as this.
