Why should I choose vBulletin 3 over vBulletin 4?

With the obvious reasons aside, such as that vB4 has support, it's newer etc, what are the reasons on why I should choose vBulletin 3 over vBulletin 4?

You shouldn't, you should choose vB4.

Be aware that big companies with - in contrast to you unlimited ressources - mostly rely on vb 3.

Because the company which owns vB is reluctant to switch to vB4.

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

Only due to the cost of converting. Companies won't and don't upgrade unless there is a pressing business case to do so.

For a new setup, it makes sense to start with vB4. Though arguably 4.1.3 due to subsequent versions having the new editor which still isn't finished and will cause a poor user experience for some users.

Being a vb3 user, who hasn't migrated to vb4, I'd say that if you're technically proficient and don't mind getting your hands dirty in the details then vb3 would be worthwhile consideration.

However, if you envision some degree of support needed, then it may make sense to start off with vb4.
