    Can vB4 Upgrade from vB2?

The title says it all. Can vB4 be upgraded to from vB2 without vB3 in between?

An intermediary update should be necessary.

You will have to upgrade to 3.6.12 first. Then you can upgrade to vB4.

Is it possible to get vB 3.6.12 with a vB4 license?

Yes, just click on 'More Download Options' on the download page to access earlier versions of vB.

I upgraded from a very hacked version 2.3.0 to the latest 4.1.3 and it went off completely without a hitch. Amazing.

Unfortunately it seems that vB4 somehow attracts spammers much more than vB2. I'm not sure how that's possible, but almost immediately after the upgrade several spam bots started registering and posting.

Please see this thread for the things you can do to fight spam and registration bots:

                - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)

It may be worth investigating what it is that makes vBulletin 4 (and 3?) a target for spammers. I went years with vB2 with minimal disruption from spam bots, only to now seemingly open the floodgates to a massive deluge of spam.

The reason may be, the spam soft is optimized for modern forum software, there aren't many vb2 left.

Simply because most spam bots are written to target vb3 and vb4, whereas there weren't many around at the time of vb2 - I remember it well!
