As said about there isn't, you must purchase a license to use vBulletin on your website.

Joining any vbulletin forum and posting there is usually free.
A private demo can be used on vbulletin.com if you want to play around with it and see if its worth investing into.

Sorry but not to own for free.
I strongly suggest that you save up and make it a goal to buy a license.

There are plenty of free, good message board software out there. vBulletin isn't one of them. If 'free' is your goal, look into phpBB, SMF, or any number of options that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Well, one of the very first versions of vbulletin was free (released around 2000), but all sensors indicate noone would be cruel enough to recommend use of it to even their worst enemies. Compared to that hyperold, ultra-outdated version, pretty much all free forum apps are a far wiser option to consider, if finances are really tight.

If I wasn't using vbulletin on my site, I would probably go with MYBB

There was a 'lite' version of vBulletin which was free around that time. The full version of vBulletin has never been free.

Yes, there is a free version. No, you may not have it.

Final answer: No, there is no free version of vB. Thanks for playing.
