    Computer Chat Your first pc?

Memories come back as I read about bbs in the vB 4.1 thread. The first pc I ever bought was a Compaq 486 DX2 80 with windows 3.11, the internet connection was made by a 28k robotics modem via compuserve. If I compare this with today it's like the difference between a Ford Lizzy and a Buggati Veyron. What was your first pc?

If you're talking computers as a whole rather than PCs as per the title of the thread, I had a Commodore 64 then an Amiga 128...

This only mine was a Pentium III and 384 MB.

I think the Mhz was the same, though.

Same as you I think, that was my first also. Later followed by either an Amiga 500 or an Amstrad CPC 464

But mine had a green screen monitor, not colour.

First PC that I ever had was a Commodore Vic20 with 4K of RAM and 16K of ROM. We had a tape drive for it because a hard drive was too expensive. My first Windows machine was a Pentium with 64 Megabytes of RAM.

In between, I had a variety of Apple products from an Apple IIe to a Mac Performa running System 9.

The Amiga hold some fond memories for me, I had some fun with that computer, I owned two of them over time. And Amiga 500 and 600 (if memory serves me right). And you had to love the OS "Workbench" it used. After that I got an Atari ST 1024

My first computer was a Tandy 1000EX. $800.00
                              Intel 8088
                              MS-DOS
                              256 K RAM
                              1 Floppy drive (51/4" 360 K) on right side
1 Parallel port Video - color CGA
It was state of the art at the time.

I later moved up to a Tandy 1000 SX. $1100.00
                              Intel 8088 dual-speed 7.16/4.77mhz
                              MS-DOS 3.2, (Deskmate II)
                              640K RAM
                              2 floppies 51/4" 360K
1 Parallel port 1 serial port Video -color CGA
1 joystick & light pen port
                              Three voice sound and speaker
                              90 key - keyboard
Another "high end" computer of the day!
It's amazing how prices have dropped and features have gone up over the years.
