Computer Chat Is IE8 really this intellegent...

or has she just made the stupid quotes of the year list...

In respect to our forums / websites it was stated that...

If you have upgraded to the latest version of IE8 you will notice in the address bar you will see an icon that looks like a bit of paper ripped up in it. If you click it it becomes compatable with older browsers
Should I stop using firefox and start using IE8

    lmao

Yes this is true, it's called compatibility mode.

Hmn!! I don't see how it can make your site compatible with older browsers.
It just makes it compatible with IE8 surely.

Oh! and how do I upgrade to the latest version of IE8

Compatibility mode switches the IE8 rendering engine to the one shipped with IE7.

Webmasters can also send a header that forces IE8 to use the Compatibility engine.

It should be in Windows Update, or just download here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/int...r/default.aspx

It doesn't do anything to your site. It tells IE8 to parse the troublesome website as if it was IE7.

            It is on Microsoft Update.

Ok, well maybe that wasn't the best way to describe it but Compatibility Mode is actually a really effective tool, one of the best features in IE8 in my opinion. If you are interested in upgrading to IE8, here is a link to help to get you started:

lol Microsoft actually pays people to post on bulletin boards, telling everyone how great IE8 is? You guys should better apologize for IE6.
                That's the end of that!

IE8 is very dodgey but is usable for those who have to use it.

IE8 is up to par with current browser standards, and IE9 will build on that further.

And I'm saying this as a dedicated Firefox user.
