My board was originally on UBB, then Sept 2001 we migrated to vB.

I was here pre-3.0.0 Public Beta. Only vB.com was running 3.0.0 at the time.

            I HAVE been here before,
But when or how I cannot tell:
I know the grass beyond the door,
            The sweet keen smell,
The sighing sound, the lights around the shore.

            vB have been mine before,—
How long ago I may not know:
But just when at that swallow's soar
            Your Fourm turned so,
Some veil did fall,—I knew it all of yore. Has this been thus before?
And shall not thus time's eddying flight
Still with our Sites our vB restore
            In death's despite,
And day and night yield one delight once more?

2001. Our forum closed up for a while back in 2003 but came back a few months later under a new name and it's still going. I'm surprised I could still login here, it's been a few.

Actually there was a group of private beta testers that were running it. I ran it live as did Floris and a few others.

Here is a site I owned at the time running beta 2

Extreme Visual Basic Forum is an interactive discussion forum for Visual Basic programmers. Topics include game programming, DirextX, COM, .NET, and API. To visit the forum, go to http://www.visualbasicforum.com/ .

                and here is beta 4.

I know I had beta 1 installed, but, it doesn't show up on archive.org. If my memory is correct beta 5 was the first available to the public. I do remember that 3.0 beta was very long. Over a year.

Anyone remember when Ted Oneil first started UBB and it was freeware / shareware? I think it was around 1997 or so. Not sure. I do remember it was Perl based back then and used a flat text file database.

Crap, now I really feel old. heh.
UBB was my first big board. is that the one that went with big lightbulbs for threads read/not read?

I've gone back looking at some of my posts I made back in 2002 and wow is all I can say.

My sister actually started a forum in 2001 and I took it over in 2002. I have kept it online all these years later in memory of her. I was searching and searching trying to find her posts from back then and saw that her user name had been deleted though about 15 posts remain with her name on them. Not sure why her user name on here was deleted . The vB account is still in her name.

                        Happy Holidays all.

I was installing vb before release 1. I remember eagerly awaiting it!

                            Yup, that would be UBB.
