Computer Chat problem with my vibrating screen

I have problem with my screen as it's vibrating (larger from the sides and smaller in the middle)

Is there something I can do to fix it (from software aspect)?

I've never heard of a screen vibrating. I've heard of screens buzzing. What manufacturer/model is it?

Yeah, I actually meant "buzzing" thanks for the hint.

It's too old, probably 10 - 15 years old compaq.

10-15 years old? It is probably dying. The buzzing is either the actuators that draw the screen or the power supply going out.

So, this means it either should be replaced with a newer one or sent to a technician to fix it.

Replace it. It's almost as old as you are. :-D
              That's the end of that!

Coils, transformers, and focus coils are the most probable cause for the arc'ing (buzzing/vibrating) sound. I can tell you how to isolate it down to what component in about five seconds, but if you are not a technician then I do not want to put you in harms way.

WRT CRT's normally only the filament goes, and that can be repaired quite easily, but isn't worth the hassle.

If your monitor has a CRT then it is best to get a new one, they are cheaper now and the money you save in power will pay for the monitor over time.

I managed to fix it a bit by re-installing the VGA card driver and setting the contrast & brightness to the maximum. However it still buzz, little though.

It'll cost you more to fix that poor old thing than it would to get a new one.
Unplug it, bury it, and let it rest in peace.

Then go to Staples or Walmart and get a new widescreen for $159.

Getting a new LCD will save you on power usage as well.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 923nw and I enjoy everyday I use it.

                              Yes, throw it out, now!
Go to some dollar store and get a 5 year old TFT for $25 and go home.
You safe on the energy bill too. And put that money in the bank and buy a $150 new monitor next year.
