vBulletin affiliate program and vBulletin advertising

If someone goes to vBulletin.com through my affiliate link, say, if they order tomorrow, how do they know it was from me? How do they track refferers?

Also, what forms of advertising, besides the affiliate thing, does vB use?

vBulletin.com operates it's affiliate program through a third party -Commission Junction www.cj.com - all tracking, reporting and payments are handled through CJ.

Cookies are used for tracking...so if someone orders a day later and the cookie is still on the computer then you will get the credit.

talking of bumping.... I'm going to recommend something now, a warning to say you are bumping a thread from a long time ago.

The cookie stays for 30 days until it expires or the user performs a browser purge in which all cookies are deleted.
