didn't have to... sorry, i have it for 6 or 7 months already...
*(yeah, i'm a Apple Genius for 17 years!)

i tested it on my MacMini old version, and it crap the hell out of the fan... lol but for the iMac latest model i have, it works like a charm! smaller footprint and that look amazing with the even more liquid design...

I've been running Snow Leopard since the leaked WWDC build, and have been running the GM build (10A432) since it leaked a few weeks back.

Overall, it's a very underwhelming release. People expecting a new interface, tons of new features, etc. are going to be very disappointed. Snow Leopard is very much like a Windows service pack, in that while it does add a few new things (mostly internal), the average end user really won't see much of a difference from Leopard at all.

That said, I think $29 is a good upgrade price, but the fact that new Mac owners and Tiger users are going to be charged $169 instead of the usual $129, because now you're forced into buying the Mac Box Set, even if you don't need it.

I participated in the Snow Leopard Up-to-Date Program and ordered the upgrade DVD for 8.95 EUR.

I did this on August 3rd but still it tells me:
              Prepared for Shipment

              Ships: September
What do you think, is it going to be here on time?! Apple clearly states that Snow Leopard is available on August 28th...
              That's the end of that!

the shipment was delayed twice and is now back to the date of August 28th, so i suppose it's because of the schedule changes, the server may not be up to date on this...

I have this 'Ships: September' thing since day one. Some days ago it was changed to 'Ships: By August 28th' but only for a couple of hours or so.

The interesting thing I that my first order was replaced with a new product:

                  First order:
MAC OS X10.6 SNOWLEOPARD UTD FULLFIL-DEU
                  MC204D/A

                  Replaced with:
MAC OS X10.6 SNOWLEOPARD UTD FULLFIL-ZDD
                  MC204ZD/A

I can wait… Leopard runs just fine and, based on the comments on various sites, I expect problems with the first release of SL anyway.
                  That's the end of that!

Snow is just a major update of the 10.5, it's not a 10.6 "SOLID", that's why we see it on low price... i suppose we can compare with vB 3.8 and 4.0... slimmer engine, but not an overhaul.

on slower engines it can be a great enhancement, but on the up-to-date Mac, performances and noticeable, that's all... the new gadgets, less errors and more compatibility does not need to be a major update, they are usually inserted in minor versions.

i only wish Apple develop a multi-platform IM like AdiumX, so we have the same gadgets everywhere, like video chat and file sharing... iChat is just boring... lol

I tried the developer build a while back and noticed it felt quicker.

Anyone's copy been mailed out yet?

No, not yet. And I doubt they make it on time.

Scary to believe that people are excited for an OSX service package that you'd get for free from MS.

Actually, if I understand correctly Zachery, Leopard is to Vista whereas Snow Leopard is to Windows 7.
