I tested one showthread page and the first time to download the page takes 50 ms longer with vbseo enabled, this is a low value.
Will vbulletin 4 make vBSEO obsolete ?

24 hours after I removed vbseo, my site is deep indexing and many links that were never indexed, are now in the index. Close that chapter,
Back to all of you.

Lots of things are good to assist Google in spidering your site... but people confuse spidering your site with ranking your site. Semantics, smaller page sizes, etc... all equal a positive, however; it doesn't mean you're going to rank higher. Statements like these and many others about SEO are useless because by themselves they mean nothing, and even combined they mean little to nothing overall in the scheme of getting a page to rank.
I used to perform all these tests for years, so I agree they can make a small part or difference, but that is where they all cease... a small part or difference, meaning the combination of 100 factors may give your site a one or two position increase... but a single link or changing around the semantic cocurrence between page words can change a page by pages in Google... not a few positions. Google killed SEO when they introduced automatic localisation as part of their algorithm. What we literally get on one side of a city can and does change compared to someone searching on the other side of a city via a different ISP or ISP entry point.👍 1Comment

SEO is an old term used for what is now Internet Marketing, because SEO techniques by themself today achieve little to nothing.
People need to stop listening and following videos or nonsense online and actually perform testing... that is what I built a foundation on many years ago, hence how people now came to realise things like correctly mapping a pages structure via CSS to get important content first, and many other design aspects. My tests on that and other aspects have proven specific myths, true or false. People need to start showing, not just harping something with little experience or because everyone else is doing it or saying it.
You have ties to VBSEO... so its in your best interest to promote it by telling people it will do everything for them and SEO is alive and well vs. strategic and well implemented page + marketing strategies.
Like I have said before... VBSEO has some good features in it and if a person finds those features useful, then they should buy and use it. But for SEO aspects... its achieve little to nothing nowadays that VB4 and other forum products don't already pretty much achieve out of the box. The latest VBSEO build I retried slowed my site to a crawl... and thats on a ServInt higher end VPS solution... and it near brought that to a crawl. Forum software plus a few minor tweaks nowadays achieves more than any old style SEO techniques... proven.Comment

My opinion has nothing to d with SEO. You are completely wrong on many items you voiced in this thread. I am sorry to tell this but your research seems to be completely wrong.Comment

that's pretty much it. also it doesn't have to wade through a billion nested tables. Just having something like
HTML Code:<div class="content">
HTML Code:<meta name="keywords" content="content, figure, nested, billion, tables, huge, tags, google, extra, highlight, advantages, compared, vbulletin, make, vbseo, obsolete, pretty, wade, sitemap, rewrite" />
And the poll title has a h2 tag, don't know if that's new too........Comment

Great thread, I've learned a lot about SEO from these forums.
I was thinking about buying VBSEO and I think I might give it a try.
I run my website on litespeed instead of apache...we should see not much impact running VBSEO.The 47 Ronin Gaming - www.47r-squad.comComment

vBulletin 4 does not make vbSEO obsolete. vbSEO has everything you need for SEO.
It took me almost a year to add enough stuff to my vBulletin 4 to match at least most of what vbSEO has to offer.
Some of it surpasses what vBSEO offers, some of it doesn't, some I just don't have.
but I can't afford vbSEO at the moment. I don't see the point of buying it at this point either.
I have Cloudflare CDN which supposedly is better than vbSEO's maxCDN.
I have mod rewrite urls. vbSEO's sitemap and SEO cloud.
I bought vBET which is a translation mod that's supposed to be good for SEO.
I think it's kinda useless but my members love it so I'm keeping it.
I think for the money, install Wordpress as your CMS since it's free and it's SEO features are better than vbSEO besides also being FREE!. Here's a guide: Wordpress As vBulletin4 Homepage

Out of habit. Been posting like that since 1999.
Also I'm nearly blind. Normally, I wouldn't be able to see if anyone replied to my post without my bolded font in their quotes.
I'm trying to stop but it's hard to stop doing something you've been doing for a decade.Comment
