  • Dumbest mistake you made using a vBulletin forum?

You know, as in messing up when using the editor or clicking the wrong button to reply rather than quote a post...

For me, I'd say one of these two things:

    1. Using a Youtube code button on my forum when I actually wanted to use the quote code and wondering why the text vanished...

    2. Clicking edit instead of reply when viewing a topic.

You? Anything really stupid in this sense?

heheh - screwing up in forum permissions so that my members could see our admin threads.

Yeah, I've done it too, and it weren't purty...

^Reminds me of vBulletin.com and recently, although I've honestly made the exact same mistake with forum permissions and staff forums.

I think we've all done that once or twice.

Have never borked my permissions (worked with servers and Netware far too long). However, one should not mix modifying templates and bourbon. The results can be... Ummmmm. Disastrous for the site.

Merging two forums' databases into one, leading to a very corrupted forum.

one of the first people to install the facebook hack at .org. took down my forum for a few weeks and I'm still afraid to upgrade till this day because of it. the forum is basically a bust so it doesn't much matter now, but still, could have been bad..

Playing with character encodings on a live database without making a backup. Ended up corrupting the database, and spending hours fixing "????????" corrupted member usernames! Luckily enough that was when the member list wasn't huge.

Had a really active board going, one day i took the anti-spambot defences down to test something on the forums, i WAS the most active poster on there, i went AFK for a week due to real life circumstances, and i came back to find that even the SPAMBOTS had more posts than I did! (Forgot to enable the anti-spambot defences)
