Computer Chat April fools might be extra special this year!

I am sure a lot of you have heard about Conficker C. If you haven't, you should read this article. What do you think will happen on April 1st?

Funny thing is, as of yesterday, I keep getting locked out of windows xp pro. When I try to open something simple such as my documents, I am told my security settings do not allow me to perform that action. If I restart, things work for about an hour and start all over. When trying to connect to the internet via FF or IE, neither even attempt to open a page until I restart. Anyone else having any similar issues? Starting to wonder if AVG or ZA are not picking something up.

Maybe its time to upgrade from Windows XP and use more robust tools than Zone Alarm or AVG.

Personally I have no concerns. The only viruses that I have ever gotten on a PC of mine are ones that I put on them intentionally. I used to clean viruses and malware from PCs for a living and still do on occasion for friends and family as well.

I gave vista a shot but a lot of programs I depend on refuse to work. Installed the ultimate edition and uninstalled it about 2 hours later. I have been considering going with a mac however I know nothing about them. I dont think i've used a mac since I was in 9th grade! The one I keep looking at is the 24" imac. I know a lot of you are mac fans. Any advice for a mac noob?

How is that? You right click on the program and tell it to run in XP compatiblity mode. It will work in Vista. I haven't found a single program that hasn't worked in Vista. This includes some proprietary stuff written in the Windows 3.1 days.

Nothing more than Aprils fools day, this to me is just another way to promote anti-virus software, and what other way to do it is on Aprils fools...

Why? Do you get a lot of viruses and worms on your computer now?

I'm not too worried about the virus. Thankfully, I upgraded to TrendMicro, and I ran several scans, and...yeah. Nothing really. My computer is clean. Yay for me. But either way, I'm watching that virus closely.
