What PGA event is known to be the "Superbowl of Golf"?

I need to know for a column I'm writing and don't have any golfer buddies who know, so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks!

Maybe the Bob Hope Classic... Though I think its the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic now.

Its certainly the most watched event on the PGA tour.

are you serious? where did you get this info? I'd say its one of the least popular on tour....and one of the least watched for that matter.


I'm a huge golf fan and the superbowl of golf is one of the majors...I'd say in this order...


US Open
Masters
British Open
PGA Championship.

I said maybe.. Its what came up when searching on ASK.com and Google. It was really just a guess. Only time I turn golf on the television is when I need to take a nap. If I were to watch any sport on television it would more likely be Hockey or Ultimate Fighting. Nothing else even comes close to being entertaining to me.

not in golf. golf has "majors". a golfers success is largely determined by how many majors they win.

although starting in 07, PGA started the FedEx Cup...which basically is a season long competition that ends at the end of the PGA tour season.

As you can probably tell from my user name I am a golfer. I am a fanatic, IMO The Masters is the superbowl of golf, but the ryder cup is probably one of the most watched events in golf.
