Do you blindly follow people? I am pretty sure that I have a couple of spammers following me. However I always check a person's updates and follower list before I follow them unless I know them from somewhere else. Since I am not following the spammers, I don't see anything they post and there is no real need to block them. When I go in once a week and do follower updates, I'll block them then.

But it has got a lot worse now Wayne, yeah you can check a persons Twitter posts out to see if they are a spammer. But to be honest, who needs the hassle of wasting their time checking spammers out every day who add you contantly. And it gets worse the more tweets you add. I was getting 10 people a day adding me at the end, all spammers who I never followed. Twitter has turned into a spammers wet dream, and getting over-run by them as a result now.

Can only get overrun if you let them. Like I said, I visit the Twitter website once a week and look at my followers list. If there are people in there worth following, I follow them back. If not, I either just leave them alone or block them. Takes about an hour a week to do this for my three Twitter accounts.

I guess. Getting ready to spin vBCodex off into its own account so that would be four.

No, I don't follow any of them. But they stuck there on my profile because blocking people just isn't working any more.

All of the people in the world can follow you on twitter, but if you're not following them back, then you should not be getting any of their posts/updates.

I have quite a few followers, but the only posts that are on my twitter page are from the people that I followed in return.

If you're getting updates from people that you didn't follow in return, you should check your settings, because something's wrong.

No, not getting updates, just don't want them following me.

ah well there's nothing you can do there, short of blocking them. I couldn't care less who's following me. But I'm very careful who I follow.

I do feel that Twitter should have a moderation option, so that we can approve who can follow us.

It would be nice if just the blocking worked.

I *really* object to having porn spammers on my followers list that I can't get rid of.

I have no problem with blocking. It works for me.

I posted the suggestion above -

I've had the same problem also, I stopped following some people, yet I was still getting their updates. I even blocked them also and was still getting them. In the end I had to report one person to twitter to get them stopped. I don't know how he was doing it, but when I looked at his profile page I noticed he had thousands following him and he was spamming me like mad. I'm guessing the others in his list had the same issue which is why he had so many followers.

What annoyed me though, I reported him 3 times to twitter before I stopped getting his updates.

You can spot some spammers a mile off without even looking at their updates, they upload a "sexy picture of a woman" as there profile image to try and entice people to follow them. LOL

You guys think people will start using more Twitters, Google Waves and less isolated forums?

I'm wondering if people will have patience to register on forums that talk about one topic as opposed to a new Usenet that these things have a chance to become. IB should put OpenID on vB imo, anyone with a Google account can use it and in the very least would make forums less of a hassle to use.
