Oh, you think Google would do a poor job taking care of Twitter? Why?

(not being a Google fanboy here, just curious as to the motives)

LOL despite my earlier comment I got attracted to the idea of using my site's RSS feeds to update a Twitter page...just because I *can*.

Google actually has a history of buying properties and lowering standards on the sites or services. Feedburner is an example. They have already purchased two Twitter like services and never promoted them while allowing them to fail. Zingku and Jaiku.

Very few of their Acquisitions have met with success. Google Maps, Picasa, Youtube and Blogger being about the only ones really. Though there are mixed views about Blogger and Picasa isn't as well known as Flickr. Youtube is still fighting several multi-billion dollar lawsuits for copyright infringement as well. I also doubt they have recovered any of the money they have spent yet. Almost $10 billion spent in acquisitions by Google.

Hmm I see, I never knew about the little aquisitions just the big ones.

Twitter also has a high rate of abandonment. Estimates range between 60 and 80% of users don't return after the first month. Doesn't help that the service is going through a lot of growing pains right now.

how does Twitter handle the very high rate of fake profiles? how does it prove its the real person?

can be a big liability for them if people tweet in others name constantly no?

... you mean like almost anything else on the internet where you can sign for an account and they don't really verify you are who you say you are?
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

Don't do fads myself... anyone on twatter? or enjoy the goodness from asshandle.com? - i say this because its bandwagons, fake media stirrings to incite a pseudo popularity etc etc etc, think of two words, plonk them together...super internet (social networking so called) website, get it on as many mags, tv shows as you can, pay celebs to mention it on chat programs, whatever is needed, then sell it out to the big boys... while you lot think it's there for a reason haha

                                anyways, twitter away
