    Need opinions about the logo...

Hi, hopefully my question is not against the forum rules.

What do you think about the present logo of this scientific forum? I like the colour combinations, but the font does not seem to fit here. On the other hand this font itself is playful and at least not boring. I would very much appreciate your opinions

    Thanks a lot.

You should anti-alias the output against your white background to eliminate the jagged appearance.

Hate to give bad feedback, but i dont like it very much..
Could you maybe change the font, and add in a small image of some sort?? An image that relates to your forum content..

Indeed, you are right, an image would make a logo not so empty... will take a look on that, thanks for comment

The font choice is poor, the anti-alias really doesn't look that great. A logo is such an important part of any sites identity. I strongly advise you to start a contest on 99designs.com (offshoot of sitepoint marketplace) and pay some money to get a professional logo designer to do it

I agree with Dean here. I'm awful at anything design - logos, graphics, web designs etc. When you try to do things yourself that you aren't good at, bad things happen. Design is just one of those things you can't "learn" very well.

My suggestion would be to find a graphics designer willing to work within your price range. Often times the more professional ones will charge $200+ just for a logo. I know their time is worth being properly compensated for, but I'm just not willing to spend that much on a logo. Instead, get some quotes, try to find some "undiscovered talent" so to speak. Many very good graphics designers who are just getting started may give you a steep discount if you allow them to include you in their portfolio or attest to their skill in a testimonial.

You can get a good logo for $50 through sitepoint.com

                  It looks lost up there.
I agree with Joe Gronlund, it needs some imaging to make it stand out better.

It's okay, but to make it better I'd add some sort of image in there

Looks fine for me using Vista and IE7.
