I let the user choose and don't keep track of who is using what.

For the info I'm going to spit out to the postbit, the modern one works a lot better, and looks better, than the legacy one.

You've got me wondering if I missed something in four years of running vBulletin - how does a user switch between the two display modes? I thought that was an admin-only setting.

This is not a user option by default. However someone has posted a template modification that does this:

Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)
Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

This is what I do also. I have no idea what the ratio of postbit to postbit_legacy users is.

I added a profile field for them to choose their type and then added a plugin that picks the postbit based on that. There is a mod over at vb.org that explains how to do this.

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

I prefer to use postbit. I am used to it and it gives a more modern look to post replies.

The next upgrade to my site I'm doing will include the current postbit layout for one style, and then postbit_legacy for the second. It's mostly to do with paying tribute to an old site that we broke off from/merged with than anything else.

I think either one is fine depending on your site's look at feel though. I myself prefer postbit but sometimes I'll find my liking postbit_legacy too.
Congratulations on the death of vBulletin, Internet Brands.

I use both on my site.

Although it really depends on the site, if it is supposed to have a "professional" feel to it, then I use postbit (even on non-vB sites), but otherwise I'll use both if using vB, legacy or the default for the particular software I am using.

Postbit for me. That was one the reasons for getting vbulletin.

Legacy, I've been using vBulletin since the year 2000 so I'm just used to it... old school... but when my forum was online I made it a user option.

I force everyone to use postbit. Harsh, but give it enough time they fall right into place.
